Originally opened in 1920 as Hotel Indiana, the Georgian-Revival building was built to serve traveling salesmen and event hosts seeking refined accommodations. As downtowns shifted, the hotel was converted in the 1950s to include permanent apartments and eventually fell into disrepair.

A new chapter began in 2007 when local philanthropist Richard E. Ford led a $15 million restoration, returning the building to its original grandeur. The renovation preserved historic architectural details while transforming the interior into 21 guest rooms and nine suites, each uniquely appointed with antique furnishings, designer fabrics, and original artwork.

A rooftop event space and green roof were added, along with The Courtyard in 2017, for outdoor dining and celebrations. Today, guests enjoy on-site venues including a fine-dining restaurant, banquet facilities, the Green Hat Lounge, Wine & Cheese Bar, and the Ice Cream & Candy Shoppe. Voted Readers’ Choice – Best Hotel by Fort Wayne Newspapers for two consecutive years, Charley Creek Inn remains a timeless destination, celebrating small-town luxury, rich history, and a century of hospitality.
